Okay, let’s be real, I should have made this update when Everyday Anxieties stopped after October! In my limited defence, November and December were kind of a shit show, and I had to pause a bunch of stuff, so I wasn’t too worried about making a grand closing statement on the series for the year. Everyday Anxieties will be back eventually! There’s a whole lot I haven’t covered, and my drafts folder is bulging.
2025 is a work year rather than a posting year, so you’ll be seeing a lot more of these kinds of public updates (which isn’t to say I won’t be posting any fiction). Finalising Immortal Rose got away from me last year, so that’s going to the top of my priority list, along with finishing last year’s haunted house novel.
For short fiction I’m going to be scaling back last year’s adventure in exploring short story submissions–while it was a lot of fun, it was really stressful! I’ve identified two Australian competitions I’m going to enter this year and will be spending more time on my submissions for those. Based on the 2024 experiment I think this approach will work for me, and I’m looking forward to it.
And last (but never least), I’m working on two fairytale projects for serialisation in 2026! They’re extensions of the Sleepover Suite project that just got, way out of hand, and my hope is to do an early release on Patreon before posting publicly like with the Anxieties and Honey Tree.
Happy 2025! It’s nearly February!
